Are You Addicted?

CRAVE CONTROL

Just when things are going great, you get clobbered with another craving to smoke. Where did it come from, and how can you get rid of it? When you smoked, you probably did many other activities at the same time. Now, you are trying to quit, or you don't smoke anymore but must continue with your daily routines. Habits can't tell the difference. For example, every time you lit a cigarette in the past, you had a soda in your hand. Therefore, it's going to feel strange to drink soda without smoking! But stick with it, for it definitely gets easier with time. Try switching to water or a different soda. Get busy with one of the following activities to occupy your hands and mind until the cravings go away. And they will go away!

Remember, whether you smoke the cigarette or not, the craving goes away!!

  1. Take a deep breath
  2. Call a friend
  3. Play a video game
  4. Go to the mall
  5. Go to the movies
  6. Hang out with nonsmoking friends
  7. Exercise
  8. Take your dog for a walk
  9. Listen to music
  10. Wash your car
  11. Bake some homemade chocolate chip cookies
  12. Rent a video
  13. Clean your room
  14. Read a magazine
  15. Buy a new CD
  16. Drive around the block
  17. Take a nap
  18. Watch TV
  19. Go skateboarding
  20. Cook your favorite meal
  21. Meditate
  22. Dance to your favorite music
  23. Go to the playground
  24. Squeeze a tennis ball
  25. Lift weights
  26. Get a hug
  27. Look at yourself in the mirror
  28. Surf the Web
  29. Draw a picture
  30. Congratulate yourself for not smoking!!!!!!!
