HEALTH CONSEQUENCES
More than 400,000 deaths occur each year from smoking-related illnesses.
This statistic is greater than the number of Americans who die each
year from AIDS, car accidents, drug abuse, and murder combined.
Examples of smoking-related illnesses are:
- Cancer (lung, throat, kidney, esophageal)
- Heart disease
- Chronic bronchitis (an inflammation of the breathing tubes
in the lungs)
